Tredegar Town Band's Dai Thom, Andy Russell and Secretary Mark Winstone enjoyed playing at the Whit Friday Marches with the Camping & Caravanning Club Brass Band.

Travelling up early on Friday morning (in Andy's camper van) the boys met up with the band at a small camping site in Friezland. After a short rehearsal of the march "Star Lake" the band proceeded a few hundred yards to register as first band at the Friezland Contest.

Marching and performing in heavy rain, the band played well and picked up first prize at Diggle Contest (4th Section). The band performed at five venues before calling it a day at 9pm, mainly due to the inclement weather.

A lazy day was enjoyed on Saturday before the boys performed with the band at their annual post march concert in Friezland Village Hall. Playing to a packed audience the evening was enjoyed by all and the boys look forward to a return visit next year.

Meanwhile, also taking part was Musical Director Ian Porthouse who conducted the Birmingham Conservatoire Brass Band at the Marches.
